Love is not just a feeling; it is a conscious choice, an active decision.

 

My practice represents the sentiment of choosing love above all else, even in the midst of loss, confusion, and turmoil. Exploring themes of spirituality, gender identity, and bicultural Taiwanese-American heritage, my practice reveals love as meditation, a guiding light through the diverse subjects explored. The work is as personal as the title itself, a whisper shared beneath sheets, a flickering glow in darkness, a love letter sent across oceans.

Growth and change are pertinent in my work; in the twisting aches of transition from child to adult in a body perceived as femme, love is the salve. In a country where my cultural identity is diluted and separated, love is the concentrate. In a culture that commodifies worth, love is my currency. Love is a poorly kept secret, whispered to all my companions. Love is a distant memory that occupies my thoughts when the mind wanders. Love is a prayer I say before I go to bed. My work serves as a reminder that love is humanity's most enduring experience—an eternal flame that resides within our souls, illuminating the intricate landscapes of life's diverse and complex journey.
